I'm looking at a 660 Raptor and need to know the year. Where can I find what year it is on the atv?

Aside from the changes from one year to another, the VIN contains the model year.

there are a couple visual differences between the years. The 01s had remote reservoirs on the rear shocks, and the tubing of the subframe was square. You can also differentiate somewhat by plastic color, if it is still stock. As far as the VIN and the model year, I think it is either the first number or the last number, but it will be the last two digits of the year.

Check out my thread: selling the raptor.

It has a remote reservoir on the rear shocks and the square sub frame. The first of the vin is Y4AM01 so I guessing its an 01.

The subframe and rear shock are good indications that it's an 01, I believe the shocks on the white/black raps were white in 01 as well compared to yellow for 02.

01 models have tranny problems, I'd look for another bike.

My bike is an 03 and looking at my VIN there's only one 3 and it's in the middle so I'm guessing it's not a straight translation. The info on how to read the raptor VIN has been posted before and should turn up in a search. I'll see if I cant dig it up if I get a chance.

I've heard that the 10th digit in a 17 digit VIN is the year.

Yep, that's correct. I just searched through the old threads and saw the same thing. It matches up on my vin as well.
