A Stage 1 Hot Cam is the best drop in cam on a stock motor. You won't have to change the valve springs, or anything. It also seems to be the most popular cam for all stock engines....it's a low and mid range cam. You would definetly feel a improvement with it over stock.

I agree with Yamaha660R........
I'm running a stg. 1 HC in my dirt Raptor. I noticed some GOOD power changes in the bottom end and some mild changes in the mid range, NOTHING on the top end........

All in all the stg. 1 HC is a good drop in cam and works well too.......

You won't want to do the Stage 2 Hot Cam unless your going to have some head work done, and the valve springs replaced. The Stage One is a drop in cam....you don't have to do anything else to the motor to run it.

Dude, it is an easy 2 man job...Take off the plastic and gas tank and then the top motor mount. Then take off the bolts to the valve cover in a criss cross pattern so you dont warp the head. Then have a very RELIABLE friend hold the cam sprocket for you if you arent replacing the sprocket and take off the stock cam and make sure nothing falls into the motor (decompression plates). Then put on the new cam.Btw, it is a hell of a lot easier to drain your oil and freeze too.Dont worry, just get a service manual and you wont have to follow my steps.

I disagree, the stage 2 hotcam can provide worthwhile gains without head porting. While porting will obviously enhance and increase the output, the stage 2 itself is still a good upgrade without it.
