Default Raptor Carb problem...PLEASE help

Could someone please help me, I just got a used raptor. From a little old lady HONEST, she had got it for her grandson but he got to many DWI"S, so i got a 2003 Raptor for cutting down 30 trees. It has gas coming out the lines on the bottom of the carb when you turn the gas on , then it wont crank by the starter you have to pull start it. And when or if it does crank it cuts right off. Can someone please help a guy out. I am married with 5 kids i need to go riding. You can either leave any help here or emal me at jamesdaddys6@aol.com
Thanks Bob

Sounds like you got a float stuck. Tap on the side of the carbs with a hammer and see if it jars loose. Better yet, tear it down and clean them out. Sounds like the little old lady let the quad sit with gas in it and you have some varnishing.

Get that quad running and get out of that Brady Bunch of a house you live in to clear your head. Good luck.

If the needle is stuck open, yes itll run like crap. You might have to use some very fine steel wool, or scotchbright, to polish the needle and seat.

well since you say you have allready taken the carbs down and cleaned them, i`m going to venture a guess that the floats are mis-adjusted (as long as they moved up and down freely when you took it apart), now there are a couple of ways to adjust them, you can either just bend the lil tab that the needle rides on up, or you can do it by the service manual, and since mine is a different state i couldn`t tell youthe exact measurement, but i do know you turn the carbs up side down, and measure (if i remeber correctly) from the bottom of the floats, to the bottom of the carb housing
