Raptor cutting out

I just rode my raptor for the second time and in the trails it just f*cking rocks. I haven't had any clutch problems, no carburators blowing off, no bent A-arms, but I am having a pretty irritating problem with the motor cutting out when wheelieing. It only happens when the front is way up to the balancing point. I found this pretty dissapointing because I am an old wheelie merchant from way back. I was even more discouraged to find that it happens when landing from jumps. It actually stalled once on me on a landing and this was no supercross triple either. If it was a big jump I would have gone over the bars and probably been injured and pretty pissed off. I think this is unacceptable for a machine that is marketed as a sports atv and costs $7000 with tax. I will be talking to Yamaha customer relations tomorrow.
By the way, I have a PRM swingarm skidplate. What an excellent piece. The aluminum is 1/4" thick and make DG skids look like tin foil.
When I get some Bandits on the raptor it should slide/track better.

I agree with you about how it handles the trails, but I have had no such problems when doing jumps. I don't know about wheelie engine stalls, because I can't do a wheelie (lol) although I wish I could, but I'm too old to learn how to now. It may be a freak thing happening to only your bike.

I thought I read something about the carb float bowl having a problem that caused it to run out of fuel on extended wheelies. My buddy can do a third gear wheelie on his Raptor UNTIL it runs out of gas. I think they all do it for now.

Just got the new(er) denniskirk, pg. 175 they have a carb vent system, says "inexpensiively ensures consistent carburetion, even over supercross style jumps and whoops, by venting standard carburetor vent hoses upward to eliminate vapor lock and bogging." Whether it works or not, havent got a clue, but sounded good.

It sounds like what Brokemybanshee said. It used to do it on my 125KX on landing long jumps "gassing". It was quite pi$$ing indeed. The engine didn't stall, but needed 1/2 second to go...aaaargh 0.5 seconds lost.
With the banshee I haven't had such trouble...I don't take big jumps anyway (if I find some, I will), and I'm a bad wheelier.
I don't know how it's called in english, but the carb just "runs out" of fuel. For french fans I say the carb "dejauge"...ahahaaa.
