Default IRS vs solid axle

I was thinking of replacing my 2002 Kodiak with a new one. On reason is to get IRS, but now I have been told that the solid axle is superior because of fewer moving parts and better power to the wheels. Any comments on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well i cant give you much help with the fewer moving parts or anything like that but here is what i know. If you a extreme mudder like biggest tires i can get ether stick with solid axle or get gorilla axles on a IRS. IF you like to just ride or dont care about bigger tires then irs is the way to go. The only thing i dont like about my sp 500 irs is all the d@*n grease zerks... Oh well i still wouldnt trader that for a solid. Oh yea one other bad thing. no power sliding....

Big 10-4 on the power sliding thing. Be really careful about sidehilling on steep inclines with IRS. The ride is unbeatable though.

Remember too that IRS, u will pick up a little more center ground clearance, better for some trails used a lot. Gotten stuck pletty of times with solid axles.
