Default Yamaha YFM225S/T/U starting problem

I'm new here. The wierdest thing happens to my ATV. Sometimes it will start and other times it won't. The engine turns over but won't fire spark. I thought maybe due to heat and brittleness of the lead wire assembly to the magnito, that I should replace it. So I did that but it did not seems to solve the problem. So maybe I could go out to the shop now and it might start and maybe not.
I checked the resistance on the stator coil and the pickup coil and they are within range. Hmmmmm this is a nightmare. What does the rectifier/regulator do?
Anyone able to help me, or lead me in the direction of a previous forum on this subject will be appreciated.
Thanks
Scooter

Thanks, I just checked the specs for the stator coil and it is within the range of being ok. Have you had experiences with the stator coil where it was within the range but did not work?
Thanks, anyone else have trouble?

I need help finding the stator coil. Does anyone have information on problems with a stator coil causing your ATV to not start. I did test it with an ohm meter and it checks out within range. This ATV is driving me crazy.

Thanks for any input.

ya i've had experiences...it doesn't like to start like ever..i'd have to pull start it with another wheeler...or once i got it started it would die out after a while and wouldn't be able to start for a while...replaced the stator and starts right away

I have the manual and it does not show where the stator coil is. Is it in the case where the magneto is?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I found the microfishe on the coil. I see there is a stator coil assembly includes coil assembly, coil pulser, and the lead wire assembly for $316.08. I have allready replaced the lead wire assembly which was about $60. So are you recomending replacing the coil assembly $70.57? Or are you recomending replacing the coil, pulser $57.94?

I really don't have a ton of money at this time and really want to make sure I am buying the right part. I also wonder why the specs from the manual, check out using my ohm meter for the stator coil.

WHat about the ignition coil assembly? I don;'t see any specs for it in the manual. It's only $46.48. How can I check the ignition coil assembly?

Thanks
