Well, the thing about cars is that they are much more necissary to everyday life. Where would we be without cars. ATV's are not as important in the eyes of the hippys and tree huggers and the ignorant. That should be obvious. Yeah more people die in car accidents, but there are soo many more cars out on the road than there are atv's. There are even more stupid and dangerous things being done in cars all the time though. But there is already a force attemting (unsuccessfully) to stop that. The Police. The hippys think they can walk in and take our atv's away. There is no way that cars are going to be gone, not in 1000 years.
Another thing that makes me mad about it is they are not really after dirtbikes that much. Why is it just quads?
People just dont see the positive effects of riding. All the families that ride together. I love going out to a riding park or the dunes and meeting people. These are super nice people. I havent met many jerks. Its mostly just really nice people. Its awesome. But when kids screw around, its makes the rest of us look bad. I belive it is up to everyone to help make a good reputation for atv's. It really is up to us. So be nice, and ride smart.
Id like to keep my quad thank you. Its kinda my life.

The guys who did the golf course stuff were pretty dumb. I think the big problem with all the ATV "haters" is age group. A perfect example is how a older guy on a Harley can go down a residential road with stright pipes and not get a second look..... but if you start up that 110db ATV it is like you are public enemy #1. This is the reason why I enjoy older Enduro 2 stroke motorcycles and the RZ350s. If you hear something that sounds like a tuned Banshee going down your road, its me on an RZ with no silencer packing. Also, taking the DT400 on the trails then pulling right onto the road in front of a cop is very enjoyable... even more so when they didn't notice you have current plates on it.
Yes, I know this gives ATV riders a bad name but, it only seems to effect people where riding isn't a big source of income. Where we ride up north, the cops are happy to see riders because they spend money at the local shops and restaurants. Its weird how money changes it from "Can I see your ID" to "Hey, here are some free maps"

I wish it was like that here.

One way to help mitigate the damage to our sport is for local ATV clubs to demand that these criminals not only pay for the criminal trespass, but also pay full restitution to the golf course. This would include not only paying for the tens of thousands of dollars for the damage, but also for lost income to the golf course, plus interest for however long it takes to pay it off. Not to mention loss of their ATV's and drivers license.
