Default Inexpensive upgraded shocks?

I recently heard of guys that drag race in sand upgrading their shocks from stock raptor shocks on the front and back, and changing them to automotive style gas shocks. (ex. Belltech "Nitro" shocks, Rancho shocks, and Pro Comp shocks.)

I was wondering wether you guys have heard about this, or have tried it. I'm always gunning for a new upgrade for as few dollars as possible as i'm sure we all are. And as you know, you can measure your shocks and go to the nearest auto parts store and find any length you need.

Maybe someone out there knows about this upgrade or has tried it.

I find it difficult to believe that shocks with valving for a 2 ton vehicle would be worth a damn for a 380lb. vehicle.

^that^, plus an automotive shock doesn't have a spring built into it. So either you rig up a spring, or it would be 100% useless. Just get shocks made for an atv.

Yea it could be modded to fit but it would be pretty pointless. If you want a different aproach at shocks go get some off of a crotch rocket.
