Default Raptor rear axle (660 '03)

My buddy and I were riding down to the mudhole and his rear axle started making the god awful high pitched racket we stopped and inspected it but found nothing so we turned aropund to go home and it stayed about the same when we turned in his driveway the chain flew off and rapped abouth 3 time in the front sprocket, and is now jammed up inthere pretty good, has anyone ever had the axle bearings go out on a rappy, of did the axle tension just get so loose it flew off? and how do we get the chain out of its position?

damn your buddy is lucky that the chain didn't break the case. To get it out, i'd very carefully try putting it in reverse and easing out the clutch carefully to see if that backs the chain out enough to loosen it. If that doesn't loosen the chain, just grab onto it and pull like hell. I don't know what the high pitched sound would be coming from. I never heard of bearings making any loud noises when they started going out, and they would have to be REALLY bad for the chain to pop off. Maybe the chain wasn't adjusted right?

Are you sure the axle bearings are bad? Do you know how to check them?

I know he is VERY LUCKY he was at a low RPM, I had him lift up the rear of the bike and I wiggled the wheel and it felt like the was excessive slack in the rear end (not the swing-arm) in the axle housing not sure it its just a loose bolt or what it just sucked

it's probably the axle bearings then. check and make sure it isn't a loose hub or bolt first, but it's probably the bearings
