does anyone know of a quad that will do 90 mphs!!!

Boom may not be the most charismatic forum member but his theory of top speed is correct. The only reason a 409 banshee (with stock gearing and tires) would have a higher top speed than a stock banshee would be due to its ability to turn more rpms. According the the most accurate, 'authoritative,' all knowing calculator everyone thinks is gospel:
banshee...........68.5936696044748
400ex........... 70.6433679740753
z400........... 69.2949269471987
01 rap.......... 87.0803839370317
02 rap....... 87.0803839370317
bomb. ........ 83.2921611891402
can 440......... 61.1934774014507
Ok, so a 400ex is faster than a z400, cannodale 440, and a banshee? z400 faster than a banshee? a quad of near equal displacement yet violent twostroke engine? HA. thats a good one. a stock raptor does 87...a bomb doing 83....well that makes them faster than good ole Quadzilla 500...NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
BUT, the gearing calculator dont lie, man, it's math. Math dont lie, OH IT CAN'T! PLEASE SAY IT ISNT SO! The universe will unravel! Ever heard of fuzzy math and erroneous calculations and 'used car saleman' math? Thats what this calculator is...
yeah, this thread is funny, enFORCER!

think i pretty much proved that, well the banshee part at least, not boom- i disagree.
You are missing his point. I'm not familiar with this calculator but that doesn't matter. It does't mean that a 400ex can really do 70 stock. It means that IF the 400ex was able to pull 5th gear at its maximum rpm then it would be running 70. It's universally understood that a stock banshee has a higher top speed than a stock 400ex. The case in point is that all machines are gearing limited. The numbers you posted may be off but the fact remains that they are still gearing limited.
Here is another example using cars.
Car #1 is a stock z28 with 275/40/17s on it. It has aftermarket 4.56 gears and a 4L60E tranny. It has about 300 hp. It can hit 5800 rpms in overdrive and has a top speed of (lets just say) 125 mph.
Car #2 is a modified z28 with 275/40/17s on it. It has a supercharger. It has aftermarket 4.56 gears and a 4L60E tranny. It has about 425 hp. It also redlines at 5800 rpms in overdrive. Car #2 can kick the crap out of Car #1 in the quarter. But, it still only tops out at 125 mph.
I think this is what Boom is trying to say. If it is...............he's right.

Im sorry that your so ignorant. I guess you probably disagree with Einsteins theories too! MATH is MATH. Get over it. Your not going to beat it. I dont care what anyone says, your not going to beat the laws of math and physics.
I have proven my point, you have not. All you have is hear-say. The only way you can get a banshee to go faster than the limits of the stock gearing is to turn more rpms, or have bigger tires (which is like taller gearing). DONT ARGUE! You are only making yourself look bad.
I NEVER said that these quads are going to hit those speeds, especially stock! WHat is your deal? Gearing calculators ARE CORRECT. Your just too stupid to understand it! They show what a quad is capable of, as far as GEARING GOES. It does not matter if you have 500 horse, just like I was saying. It doesnt matter if you have 1000 horse. Gearing will only let you go so far. Unless you are capable of getting 1000's more rpms out of the banshee, with stock gearing you are not going to see 90mph!!!
With other quads that actually HAVE rev limiters, your not ever going to exceed the gearings limitations with more rpms, cause it wont let it! To make a yfz go faster than what it "can" do stock (79mph) it requires a gearing change. And jsut so I dont loose you, I am not saying the yfz will GO 79mph stock, but rather its CAPABLE of going 79mph stock with the stock gearing. From what I have seen, a stock plugged up yfz will only go 73-74, which means you are not pulling the full 10,750 rpms in 5th. JUST LIKE YOU ARE NOT PULLING 9,000RPMS OUT OF YOUR STOCK BANSHEE IN 6TH GEAR! They wont do it dude, there is so much more left in 6th.......you dont realize it! Its NOT fully revving out! I am not going to tell you about your quad anymore, but tell you the multipul banshees I have been around, including mine, will not pull 6th gear in stock form to its maximum potential! Guess yours is magical! Untill you put pipes and jetting on the thing, it wont do it! You do not have the power to pull through all the resistance. In a wind tunnel, that was a vacuum (no air resistance) you could, which is what the gearing calculator is showing. WHAT IT'S CAPABLE OF ACHIEVING!!! NOT what it will do.....untill the right modifications!
You guys say what ever you want to say to/about me. Sorry if I am so abrasive to people, but people like ENFORCER really dont have any ground to stand on! And for that sake, neather do you because your are arguing not against me, but the laws of physics and mathematics! Way to go......Id like to see you win that one! We have Einsteins apprentice on here, who knows more! ...oh geez!
Dont use the calculator if you think its so off, use the formula.....which is exactly what the calculator is. I have it somewhere, I'll have to find it for ya!

Maybe I can make this a little easier for some to understand. say your driving down the interstate in your little car, and want to see how fast it will go. So your in 5th gear and WOT, and it hit the red line at 6,000rpms, it wont go any farther. That is because you have hit the end of your gearing potential, and if you wanted to go faster (and obviously your car had the power to do it) then you would have to change the tires to a taller size, or start changing your gearing. (this is like the banshee or yfz with pipes and intakes)
Now say you where doing that same thing, but you have changed the gearing and put on taller tires. Your in 5th gear WOT and it just wont pull any more. you have 1,000rpms left, but it just wont do it. That is because you have hit the point where you do NOT have the power to pull that gearning and things like resistance are getting in the way! (this is like most all stock quads and even your banshee)
The trick is, is if topspeed is a big deal to you, finding out what gearing you can fully utilize in 5th at WOT. For instance, for me right now, I have found that I have more than enough power to pull a +1 tooth counter sprocket and a higher revving CDI, putting my topspeed at 89mph......thats 5th geat WOT at 11,250rpms. I could drop a tooth on the rear, and I think maybe it would even pull that, but I still want the machine to accelerate well too!
by the way "twentycharactes" you used the wrong internal gearing on the banshee when you did those speeds above. The stock banshee's gearing is in low 70's! Not high 60's!
