my old raptor bone stock would ride side by side my buddies dakota r/t a t 80 mph but thats it. My banshe is much faster acceleration and top speen wise. Its good for about 90 but its no where near stock.

IN the case of the stock banshee, you cant even hit full gearing potential in 6th....it wont rev out, there isnt enough power.
i was gonna leave this thread alone but this is total BS. every banshe ive ever ridden 90% of then stock will pull 6th gear without a problem on any surface. we've owned several banshees since 1988. in 1987, 88, 89, 90, etc every test has showed the banshee doing 77mph. the bike has been pretty much unchanged since 1987 other than colors, the upper j arm replacement, brakelight, handlebars, grips, etc...my bro had a 1988 banshee. he put a 1 tooth higher on the front and hit well over 80, closer to 85. stock. i just dont understand why people downgrade the banshee from its second fastest status. it has always been a little slower than quadzilla (you can get these to go 100mph easy). quadzilla hit 79.29mph in a test in 1988 (before the mags sucked), the banshee hit 77mph. of course, back then, the banshee had 22" tires instead of the 20" nowadays. but still, it will hit close to that. i garantee you that every banshee we had over the years would be in that ball park.

my 2001 would absolutley kill most bikes it went up against. people laughed when it lined up, but when they lost repeatedly, their jaws dropped and a sinking feeling came over them. there were many witnesses and were astonished. i was glad and they didnt believe it was stock. id take a lie detector test to prove it...my friend with his 2002 raptor refused to race it to avoid having his **** handed to him.

you can take all this and believe it or not with the theories and calculators that have a stock raptor going 89mph (my @ss)..it happened. i wish i still had my 2001 banshee just so i can race one of you and unequivicably prove it. but like i said, take it or leave it, i dont care.

but where the hell are you going to hit 90 at? got your own road or hwy somewhere? your gonna need it.

............YOU must be pointing this at me, and so I am going to SLAM it right back into your lap. I too have had a banshee, and have been around more than I can count. STOCK....BONE STOCK...they will not pull 6th gear to maximum rpm. YOUR WRONG!
2ndly, I NEVER said a bone stock raptor was going to do 89mph. I said it is CAPABLE of 92.2 mph with the stock gearing. IT WILL NEVER GO THAT FAST IN STOCK TRIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OF COURSE your brother is going to be able to hit somewhere in the 80's with a +1 tooth on the counter sprocket.....no one ever said it wouldnt. NO one ever said the stock banshee wouldnt hit somewhere in the low 70's. GEARING IS GEARING BRO, you can say all you want, and we'll all sit back and watch you look like an a$$ with your crazy stories.
The OLD banshees came with 22 inch rear tires correct....HOWEVER, they came with a 13 tooth fornt sprocket instead of the 14 that comes on them now with the 20inch tires. I have never, I REPEAT never seen a bone stock banshee hit 77mph!!!!!! You know why......cause its not even possible. I dont think you understand gearing too well my friend. It really doesnt matter if you have 500 horse power, and do all your testing in a vacuum, as to not have any drag. Your gearing will only let you go so fast!!!! Things like RPM, tire size final gearing and primary gearing are all factors. Horse power will only get you there faster....not exceed your gearing!
EVERYTHING stock will only do 72-75mph. They are either gear limited down to there, OR (more likely) they dont have the power to overcome the drag and hit maximum gearing potential!
NO ONE ever said anything about a stock raptor going 89mph.....I dont know where you got that from. I said my yfz with the gearing changes and higher rpm CDI will go 89mph, but I CHANGED the gearing to do it, and also have the power to achieve maximum gearing potential in 5th WOT on asphault. I know this, cause I am hitting the rev limiter non-stop at 11,250rpm.
NO one is ragging on your banshee, or anything even close to it, so I dont know why your defensive? You can make a banshee go 100mph, WITH the proper gear/tire changes and a ton of power to over come all the drag!
................Maybe you should have left this alone, because its not "BS" like you claim, its just putting a hamper on your "tall tales"!

Jamie i don't know what your problem is but you need to get over it. Dude i was complementing you. WTF?! You said your mom was going 90. So when are you lying now, or then. I am tired of you being an @ss. And you said it was geared stock. Cuz when you first put the 15 tooth sprocket you took it off cuz you didn't like it. Sorry if you made a change after you bored it, and didn't tell me. Its my mistake. If you have something to say to me say it to my face. So put up or shut up. You know what mace, you just think your something don't you. Just because you have the money to be faster than everyone else doesn't make you any better. Your lucky to ask mommy and daddy for anything and they jump to go get it. My mom and pops bought my 660R for 1900 dollars, i said they paid 2500 because i was embarassed because we couldn't afford to trade my z off and get me a new one. We had to take a loan out on the z cuz our family has some serious financial problems, after the house burnt down. Dude i thought we were friends but i guess not, so do me a favor and don't talk to me, and i won't talk to you. Okay. I am sorry if i offended you by busting on your 700 or your yfz, i was just screwing with you and you know it. And don't play it out like i constantly done it just to annoy you. But you know what, it kinda sucks when i was so happy to get my z put together with the mods, and you say even if i somehow do manage to beat you in a race, you'll just make yours faster than mine again. I knew you would do it anyways but you didn't have to throw it in my face. I am not blaming you for the quest for power but jeeze you could at least complement me everynow and then. You know how things have been for me since last summer. I really don't want to drag this out more than i already have so i will stop now. But jamie, i hope you can see how i feel about this situation. So whatever.

Patrick i didn't mean to put it like that. I should have just said that you were incorrect about the gearing. I dont know why i put that you was full of crap. So lets just let it go and hopefully no more hard feelings. Mace

maybe so just for the sheer waste of time i do by arguing with people like you who think you know it all.
but i can only tell you what happened. im not on here to BS anyone. if i had a camera on me for those races it definitely woud have been recorded.

every banshee ive ever ridden since 1988 will pull 6th gear with no problems. i was wanting another gear when i had it topped out many times. it would pull it. maybe yours just sucked. maybe you werent around in the 80s with the war btwn the banshee and quadzilla. evidently not. every test had them at 79 & 77mph. ive seen these bikes run for 20yrs. its documented for the past 20yrs. find an old copy of 3&4wheel action or the ORIGINAL ATVSPORT (NOT THE CRAPPY ONE OF TODAY) and it will list the top speed of the bike as 77mph.

its not an impossiblilty as you say, nor did i direct everything in my previous post to you, but to the dumbass calculators that are incorrect. someone earlier said only 72 for the banshee - my 250 will easily do that and the banshee will leave it sitting there.

you are prob not even 20yrs old and gonna come on here and try to 'SLAM' ME? HA! call it tall tales or whatever you want my freind - it happened...you can beleive it or not, i dont care. I just wish i still had that bike - id load it up and come race you and hand you your **** after i pulled your head out from it.

dude, you know what the Yamaha reps said when they compared their STOCK raptor vs. their STOCK banshee> and I quote, "who ever got a better start usually won." what does that tell you? 76-77mph. easily. i dont care if you beleive it or not. go play with your little bs nerd calculators and your theory of speed. the rest of us will just ride and pass you up, leaving you to wonder, "my dam calculator said i should be faster, wth?"

gearing will limit your speed but if i had a 409 banshee you think my stock gearing would still limit me to 75-77mph? HELL NO. it would still kill a stock banshee. yes, the engine would be wanting more, but it would still be pushing that bike faster than stock. thats like saying if i hop up my truck to 500hp it wont go over 100mph with its stock gearing...what planet are you from dude? thing would be better overall if i change the axle but it wont totally LIMIT the trucks top speed.

OF COURSE your brother is going to be able to hit somewhere in the 80's with a +1 tooth on the counter sprocket....
with this, you just proved my point without even knowing it. so the stock banshee must be going high 70's to pull 6th gear...and then add +1 tooth to pull 80's in 6th (which i though it couldnt pull)....fascinating.

twentycharacters, don't even bother with 135boom. He argues with everyone on this forum.
And when he starts to lose the argument, he starts with the caps lock and the name calling.

yeah ive seen it.... but i do respect his YFZ info. he doesnt seem too far off on that. i give anyone credit where it is due. He might just need to calm down a little and take thngs at face value instead of taking them so personal.

the YFZ maybe my next bike...they can scream.
