I suppose if you had a compression nipple that was the right size you could connect the 2 oil lines and bypass the cooler temporarily, but it's unlikely that anybody would have the fitting laying around the garage. That's still not the greatest idea, it could cause overheating from slowly chugging through the snow and putting a lot of stress on the engine without air moving to cool it off.

Mine as well explain how this all happened
f'd up my quad bad in an accident, rode in some snow for like 20 feet in 4x4 came to a stop take it out of 4x4 go about 15-20 feet i was going through a turn at about 20-25 mph i feel a huge jerk like something shot under my quad and either 4x4 threw it self in as i was riding or my front left wheel locked up(cant tell it just tightened bad on that side i was turning right) and i wound up flipping in a ditch cut up my ankle not to bad and my head hit a stump or a rock or something thank god my helmet was on and my neck didnt hit but my helmets scraped up real bad in the back and looks like a hairline crack is there. I told yamaha the front left wheel locked up as it felt like it did and forced me into the ditch causing all the damage. racks bent, stretch marks, fuel petcock popped off, oil cooler snapped, bars bent back, cracked plastics, and the damage to me. Now this happened december 8th but i just got my pickup back so i can bring it there so im planning on doing it tomorow or something but here lies my problem they said it can be 4-8 weeks and i am real pissed about that as it was not my fault this stupid quad broke (although i love it) but i dont want to wait that long its not that big of a job that it should take that long, honestly i dont know what to do id like to get it back i only had it 7 months and already problems god knows what else can happen. by the way i have the YES service Plan so its still covered but iu dont know what to do as in the waiting process that long i pay alot of money for this thing and being 15 it isnt easy to keep paying but paying for a broken atv i just cant do it...pics of the damage...the 4x4 light was blinking after the acciodent which leads me to believe 4x4 threw itself in
now do you think theres any chance yamaha will cover, i have a lawyer if need be. I have virtually no more dough other than what im paying monthly as im 15 and barely make my payments. I took it apart as seen in the pics if that means anything like they'll say oh you toyed with it voided warranty. i have a 500 insurance deductable but id rather my quad be totalled before i have to pull that out. I have about 400-500 miles on it. 7 months in already problems, squeeky back brakes, stalling, hard start, and brakes not working at all at some points. lemme hear what you think i should do i mean i love the quad but yes i do fear it now i will get over that but im real angry cause of this incident.
brought it in for 10 hour maintenance and made many calls and they just basically told me over the phone how to stop the brakes squeeking which didnt work but ya know what i lived with it and i wish i never did but getting the pickup truck and trailer from my uncle is very difficult.
all i took apart was what was off in the pics, oil cooler, plastics, rack.
The most recent picture was the day i got it i believe, except for this small pic i got when i hit a small pole

Never got the recall notice in the mail, i was oblivious to it and i have a lawyer(uncle) willing to call and bring a case if need be 1

It might work. It's at least worth a try. Just make sure you clean the oil off of it first, or it won't seal right.

I don't think the warranty is going to cover the damage. They'll come up with a reason to say it's your fault, like you were going too fast, are too young (supposed to be 16 according to their disclaimer) or god knows what other bs they will come up with. It's hard enough to get some dealers to cover work under warrranty when it's obviously a defective part from the factory, much less when you caused the damage, even if it was because the wheel locked up. It's worth a try, but don't expect much.

I don't like lawyers, and wouldn't even get one involved in this. It's just not worth the work, and you could end up spending more money on legal fees than you get in return.. If the yamaha dealer looks at the cv joint and says it wasn't the cause of the wreck, i'd just suck it up and pay out of pocket to fix it.

If you think it's reasonable to get a lawyer involved, go ahead. I don't know a lot aobut this type of thing, so i'm really just talking out my @ss right now.
