I have a 1996 warrior and there is this black tar like substance stuck on the engine well and is kinda rubbery. I ntoiced that two days in arow the engine overheated and wouldnt start for a while and i thought it was just cause it was in the snow and the tires were spinnin alot but i think it was because whatever the black stuff was covering opened and air was leakin out of the engine. In the clymers book it said that can cause overheating so i was wondering what i can use to fix it.

Be more specific as to where the crack is on the engine. A crack on the engine can also cause(my opinion) it to run leaner too....causing a burnt up motor in the end. I wouldn't ride it until fixed if it were mine. The crack, depending on location, can be welded though. I had one welded a while back....still holds great. Make sure the person who is welding it, is a good welder of aluminum(dirty aluminum at that).....and has a little past experience with this type of stuff(knows what he can harm internally, etc).

 

JB weld does the job...my friends dad just did a decent job on mine and he has done it on a feew bikes too. i guess it will hold for ever if u do it right.

 

true.......jb weld(the good long setting stuff)....will work, if you mix it properly, and put it on good and think, and cover the area completely. Also, it helps to rough the area up a bit too.

 

JB weld would do a good job just make sure theres no oily residue on what your sealing.

 

JB weld worked good for my cousin's 250r case when the chain took a chunk out of it. It saved us a lot of work, and it saved him a lot of money.
