The cheapest good quality pipe you will find new will be either a supertrapp ids2 if you can find one, or an hmf. The supertrapp is a little cheaper, but both are around the $200 range.

I'd forget about aftermarket exhausts if noise is a big issue. The only ones I know of that aren't loud are fmf's Q series, $300+ and they don't give much of a power gain anyways. An hmf will be louder than the stock silencer with the baffle out.

Stay away from cobra exhausts. In my opinion they're the worst exhaust ever made. They don't give you any performance gain over the stock exhaust, they sound like a lawnmower with a hole in the muffler, the packing usually blows out within 10 hours of riding (loss in performance over stock exhaust), and they have a tendency to rust and break off the mounts. If you don't have the money for a good exhaust then just keep the stock one, buying a cobra, or a cheap DG is like cutting the end off your stock muffler and throwing your money in the trash. They are very loud too, not a good powerful sounding loud, just loud.
