yfz450 lacking low end
#1
I want to know what is the best way to increase the low end power of the yfz without changing the gearing. I was thinking about a pipe but there are so many that i can not make up my mind. The pipe has to be quiet but not as quiet as the stocker. If you have any other sugestions please let me know. Thanks

A good pipe, of course. Open up the intake. Install a heavier flywheel. Higher compression piston. Convert it to a 450(or more) via the stroker kit. All of these things can improve the low end power.

DR D slip-on
Air box lid removed
45 pilot
stock needle on the 5th clip position
172 main jet
2 1/2 turns out on the fuel screw.
It runs pretty much flawless from bottom to top.
Hope this helps!

you could also look into doing the cam mod after you install a pipe. Then you will have one he!! of a yfz. The cam mod is free and easy. With just this 3rd gear take offs on gravel will be nothing for you. Well hope that adds to your list. Peace.
