V-Force, Raptor 660, Ds 650 - Torque
hya, i have seen in the kawi leaflet that the V-Force has 59.0 Nm or torque and weighs 234 kg. the DS 650 has 57.0 Nm or torque and weighs 213 kg. i dont know the raptor's torque but i know it weighs 172 kg [ all weights were dry weight]. erm i wouldn't know what the raptors torque is, so i wont guess. anyway, in a drag its torque which gets your wheels turning and launches you off of the line. the DS has 3.74 [3sf] kg to move per ounce of torque. the V has 3.97 [3sf] kg to move per ounce of torque, hope my calculations are correct. so off the line, the DS has the V, and because it has gears i would imagine it has an even higher advantage. but when these three race, the DS holds the lead all the way, but the kawi sets off faster than the raptor i think, but the raptor when pulls it back, once again i think this is how it goes. so the raptor must have less torque and has less hp than both quads. so why in a drag does the raptor beat the V, as this must mean the rappy has more hp, or is it designed for this type of racing? i hear people say the raptor has loads of torque, and if i knew how much i would then be able to find out what kgs its torque has to move. does anyone know a stock rappy torque reading? i presume that in the races the gearing of each quad alter acceleration, giving possible advantages if the gearing is close. but the facts are that he v should win the rappy and with the hp, should take the DS in the long run, but im not sure on what hp levels the kawi and DS have...........can anyone fill in the blanks so that i can do my little calculatios, so i then know for certain which quad will win in the drag? the forums are too biased to ask for race results. thanks

Sorry dreamMACHINE I don't have the figures your after. I can tell you this, your not looking at something important when you did your figuring.
There is no shifting with the V. In a short race the V will have the advantage over the other 2. Now this race has to be around 300' or so. Any longer and the other 2 will have the advantage because the belt gobbles up a lot of power where as the gear does not. At a WOT long race, the gear will always have the advantage.
There are +'s and -'s to both systems in a drag race.
Suspention setup is also very critical in a drag race.
All three are VERY close in a drag.
