Here we go again...

Well anyway my short and simple answer is pre 2005 model year i would take the Warrior. Post 2005 i would take the 400ex. Reason being: reverse.

Honestly, the better all-around bike is the 400ex. I still like my Warrior though, and wouldn't trade it for a 400.

The 400 has a little more power, it's a little lighter, the suspension is a little better etc. Nothing about the 400 is way ahead of the warrior, but the warrior is just older technology. They are both reliable, but I think the warrior is more reliable, and the warrior is definitely easier to work on because of the simplicity.

if ya want to get the weight down, the 350 rap is 25-30 lbs lighter than the warrior. As far as power, the 400 IS a little tougher but the gearing(on the rappy at least) makes up for it. 6 spd helps a ton. The YFM350 motor is nearly indestructable. A buddy of mine has an 87, except for a lower ball joint... it's just like the day it was taken from the showroom. strait line... probably a 400ex (but my rappy chased on down and gave a whatfor), trails... warrior/rap all the way.
