Default Grizzly oil burner

Is it a common problem with the Grizz's to be using a lot of oil? When I change oil it'll be fine for the first 150-200 miles, then the oil is getting dirty already, that's when it starts gobbling it up. I change oil every 500 miles, but after that first 150-200 miles, when I check the oil it's never on the stick. takes at least 12 ounces to bring it back to full and it's that way after every ride 'till I change it again. Between me and my friends here we've owned 6 Grizz's and they all suck oil.

I don't know mine seems to use a little more oil than it should to, Mines an 05, It seems like you have to run it a little while after you change it to get a good reading on the dipstick, always having to add more, Also it seems mines using a quart between changes too, Its not leaking out anywhere, nor am i having any blue smoke coming out of it either? Its running fine But I;ve been wondering about this too?

LJay: Mine's a '04, same problem on the '03 I used to have and my brothers '05 same thing. One thing is the oil gets dirty so quick, must have excessive blow-by, that's when it starts consuming it. I thought once maybe it was due to the large single cylinder, but I also have a King Quad, which is a 700 single, the oil stays clean in that one and doesn't go down at all. Hopefully the Grizz will have a new engine next year and that'll be the end of the problem.

I have the same problem with my rappy 660 don't know what the problem is .

I also have 11 inch tires in the back and one of my friends said that the tires size may be the problem also
do you know the best setup to get the most bottom end horsepower out of your engine.

On my 05 kodiak the oil still looks good when I change it and it always stays at the proper level. So I don't think the kodiaks have the problem.
