Default Shock noise

I replaced the shocks on my raptor 700 with new 06 yfz shocks. everything seems to fit and function well but I get a "clunk" noise from the shocks when the front end is off the ground. It sounds like a stop banging in the shock. Is this normal with yfz shocks? Any info would be appreciated.

I agree with speedy. Get someone to lift the front end for you, and look for movement in the mounting bolts. They shouldn't move up or down, but i have a feeling they are.

Bothlungs,
Did you check your spacing yet? I'm looking a set of YFZ450 front shocks for my raptor 700 and I want to make sure the will work fine before I dish out the dough.....

i thought the 700r had amazing suspension why would you swap it out for stock yfz suspension?

The 700's front end is the same as the yfz but the shocks are much better on the yfz.

I rode my buddy's YFZ540 and when I hit 3-4 foot jumps, it absorbs them well and lands so smooth, no hard impacts.....unlike the raptor.

Hey bothlungs,
What did you discover about the noise from your shocks? I just bought some off a forum member and they are making a "clunking" noise almost like thier topping out on small bumps. Maybe I'm seeing the same issue. I'll look tomorrow. Good shocks though, much better than the stock raptor shocks.

I think the noise is caused by the piston hitting the inside of the shock body. I went to the dealer and they acted like I was crazy, so I went out to the new 450's and lifted the front ends. The shocks make the same noise when the suspension droops. The bike rides well so I just Ignore the clunk.
