Honda has recalled over 126,000 Atv's (the 400 and 300 sportrax). Seems there are problems with welds and also bad brakes on the 400. I believe its just 2001 and maybe 2000 too. Saw it on the local news on TV. They said it is one of the largest in ATV history. So don't be bashing the Raptor!

I got a recall on my wife's 2000, 400ex. It was for the brakes. It seems some moron in the factory was putting both brake pads on one side of the rotor. Ours was ok, but I am glad to hear about the other recall, on the welds, got any more details. All I can say is the ones on our machine are very sloppy

Who really cares? I simply love riding quads....I have owned Yamahas and Hondas and ya know.... I could careless about who made it. I just love to go out and ride. Everyone in these forums yells and screams when we start losing our trails, but ya know it is all this childish ranting that "my blue quad is better than your red quad is better than your yellow quad is better than...." is getting our sport NO WHERE!
My 2 cents = Grow up and just enjoy the sport!

Honda announces recall of all terrain vehicles
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TORRANCE, CA - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), American Honda Motor Co., Inc., is voluntarily recalling approximately 126,000 All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). Two models of Honda ATVs are being recalled for separate problems, both of which could result in riders losing control of the ATVs, crashing and suffering severe injuries or death.
Honda Rancher TRX350 ATVs
A mounting bracket on the front suspension of the Honda Rancher TRX350 models could be welded improperly to the frame. If this mounting bracket breaks, the vehicle could lose steering control and crash. Honda has received 98 reports of improper welds. No injuries or incidents have been reported.
These ATVs are red, orange or olive green. "Honda Rancher" is written on the sides of the ATV's fuel tank. The following chart lists the Honda TRX350 models, years and Vehicle Identification Number ranges. The VIN can be found on a bracket behind the front bumper.

The brake pads on these the Honda TRX400EX models could have been assembled incorrectly. This can cause the brakes to fail, resulting in severe injury or death. Honda has received 53 reports of the brake pads assembled incorrectly on these ATVs, resulting in two consumers suffering injuries, including a sprained wrist and bruising.
These ATVs are red or yellow, and their model name, "400EX" appears on both sides of the fuel tank. The following chart lists the Honda TRX400EX model ATVs, years and Vehicle Identification Numbers ranges. The VIN can be found on the front-left-side frame down tube.

Interesting post, 400xxx!
I wonder; is there an automobile forum or bulletin board on the Web, where posters gloat over recalls by various automobile manufacturers?
If so, that could be a very crowded bulletin board indeed, given the vastly greater number of automobiles and manufacturer recalls, compared to the ATV industry.
All manufacturers (including the guys who built the Space Shuttle) make mistakes, or encounter unforseen circumstances. I'm not carrying a brief for Honda; but, fact is, Honda DID THE RIGHT THING (not the Spike Lee version); discovering problem areas, Honda made the effort and paid the expense of fixing defective quads, minimizing risk to customers.
Yet, some obtain satisfaction dissing Honda, even for a responsible response to production problems.
