i need axle bearings in my raptor. i called dealer and they said it will be between 200-400 to do them. i said F that and im doin them myself. they said its about 100 for bearings seals and the shim. how hard is it to do them. ive done them on my blaster & warrior befor, but the carrier looks alot different than my blasters and warriors does. what is different about them and how will it be different when i do the bearins and stuff.

After you pull it apart, find a bearing supply place and see if they can match the bearings and seals. Chances are that they can , and at about half or less of the dealership cost.

 

All ***** axle bearings are 26.99 at rockymountainatv and Pivot works are 34.99... Sounds to me like your dealer is tryin to bend you over [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

Ohh.. and how difficult is it? Pull your axle and extract the bearings and insert the new bearings and dust covers. depending on the amount of water you have ridden in... It could be a pain in the monkey *** or easy... Im not sure what the dealer is sayin a shim for?

 

idk im unfimiliar with raptor carriers. my blaster and warrior look alot different from the raptor. one. whats the difference between them? or is it just the case. is there a spacer/shim that goes between the 2 bearings?

The raptor isnt a whole lot different. besides the carrier is inside the swing arm.. Im pretty sure you can replace the bearings in the bike. But if you have to take it out it could be major pain. We took my carrier outand it was not cooperative about comming apart. If you have done axle bearings in one sport quad you can do them in any sport quad. They are all pretty much the same thing unless it has tapered bearings. wich a raptor doesnt so piece of cake. For 30 buck you get the dust covers and bearings. and thats all you need.if everything goes good it should take less than an hour. if not so good who knows [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

how do u get the carrior out of the swing arm?

 

we've had to change the rear bearings in our quad 2 times already. the last time we just best the brackets that the carrior sits in on the swingarm and pulled the axel and carrior out.

 

The looking at it from the rear it should be the right side that comes off.. you just pull tyhe axle and remove the two bolts that go thru it and pop the right side off of the carrier. the whole plate comes off and then the other part slides out to the left. Mine was Pretty hard to get apart.
