But, as far as riding in the woods over all kinds of terrain you can't get a better or faster quad. This quad walks all over utility quads in the woods because it is much lighter and sportier. And as far as going up against sport quads its awesome because it will go through all types of stuff that sport quads can't make it through like deep water, mud, big rocks, and steep hills. The four wheel drive works great. In my opinion there is nothing else like it out there except for the polaris but everybody knows that polaris doesn't compare to yamaha.
I agree with you nypaul. I could not be happier.

I have a 2006 wolverine 450 /white/4 months

You can do all you want to the engine or clutch, but you will only pick up MAYBE 2 mph. increase in top speed.
Take your wolvy down a long strait hill and open it up. your top speed here may be 55 mph. the final gearing of the drive train sets the top speed of any auto tranny, no clutch kit will cange this. The only way to change top speed is to install larger tires, gearbox ratio, axle ratio. And if you can find the gears in aftermarket LET ME KNOW !!!!
A clutch kit will cange the amount of time taken to reach top speed, but thats it.....
I will never install larger tire, just to gain top speed at the expense of bottem end....

My Suggestion!!! If you want a woods warior leave the 23" tires
Yamaha GYTR Header Muffler
Install K&N FIlter
Place Small Headlamp on handlebars
YAMAHA handgaurds are a must !!!!
Intall a hitch on rear
Jet Kit UP 2 SIZES the factory runs lean!!!!!
NO CLUTCH KIT !!!!
Premium Fuel Only
ENJOY

Ru u sure about jetting up 2 sizes with the gtyr muffler & k&n. I put both on my 06 wolverine, took it to the shop and said it needed a bigger main jet (i don't do carbs.) the next day they called and said it was fine doesn't need to be rejetted, also had them look at the valves and they were ok. I haven't had a chance to ride it since I put the stuff on it due to a disagreement between my table saw and my thumb.Maybe a couple more weeks and i can take it out and see if it is lean or not.
Why run the premium fuel?
Why don't get the clutch kit?
This is my 1st quad so I am new to all the mods and stuff.

I would like to see if a clutch kit can give the bike a snappier throttle. I dont care about top speed, but I need more of a power HIT when I hit the gas.

How's the Wolverine's suspension going through rock gardens, whoops, and moderate jumps? Do you get bump steer going through rock gardens?

I'm wondering if you replaced the suspension with performance suspension would it significantly perform better. My theory you would be getting some of the best parts: 4 wheel drive for mud and crawling and great suspension for the whoops & jumps. I don't think it's the weigh that's holding it back, because the Bombardier ds 650 must weigh about the same. Though I don't know, it could just be a design thing.
