Is the Kodiak IRS. Or you can get it IRS or SRA cant ya. I would go with the Yami. I own two Suzukis, but if I had to choose honda or yamaha ,i'd go yami, take a look at Bombardier site , i think they have the Kodiak up against the 400 outy and the honda, it may be the 450 though cant remember. anyway , i like hondas but they just dont ride very smooth and are overpriced usually, and these days arent really anymore reliable than anything else.

Thanks for the help. I've had 3 other hondas but never a yami, my buddy's been pushing me toward a yamaha. He might be right. they have some neat options like diff lock and ability to shut front wheel drive off, where u can't do that with the 350 rancher. I had real good luck with hondas tho, but might try yami this time.

Trust me the Diff Lock sure can come in handy. I love honda too....Always buy honda cars but on the quads the hondas are way behind in features and yamahas are just as reliable. Very smooth and its smaller footprint helps in tight trails. Plus it has plenty of low end grunt for serious work or fun. You will love your purchase and not regret it!

If you were talking about the 450 and not the 400, then it REALLY is no option, the Yamaha all the way, the 450 is way more bike than the Honda, like i said , check out the sled drag on Bombardier site, youll see why honda isnt even in the running, and most all there bikes would have similar results if tested, way down on power!

I had 2 Honda motorcycles over the years and never thought I would buy anything but Honda. I decided to go with Yamaha (Grizzly) because of the IRS, mainly. I now would not even consider a straight axled ATV. I drove 56 miles yesterday in rough desert country and the ride was as smooth as could be. I doubt with all the twisting and turning I did on uneven terrain and roads that a straight axled Honda would have even compared with the comfort level of my Yamaha. The straight rear axle of the Honda would have hung up on the large boulders I drove over with clearance to spare. If Honda had a good IRS machine I would have purchased it.
The quality of the Yamaha is very good.
