this is really slow, what can i do to make it faster, i heared about the carb and cdi box, where to get one????? can anyone help.

 

putting work into a raptor 50 is like putting a turbo on a Geo Metro. You'd be better off to trade it in towards a blaster or a honda 250 ex or something a little more mainstream.

 

i know but the problem is that i just bought it on friday for my 6 yr old, and hes not you 50 lb 6 yr old he looks like hes 7 or 8, any how we took it out yesterday and he has ridden his cousins 50 dinili, the raptor is bigger so i thought it would be a lil quicker, nope, and that why im looking for a lil more kick for him. nothing to extream just a lil more

 

I felt your pain. I bought a Raptor 50 for my 6yr old daughter, 9 yr old boy and 11 yr old daughter. All but the youngest one outgrew it in the first hour.

Now for someone to suggest a Blaster or 250ex for children this small is ludicrous.

Go to the Kids quad section and look for the thread entitled 04-05 yamaha raptor 50. It has several ideas, suggestion and step by step instructions on how to get the potential out of the raptor 50.

I first cut my slide and throttle and this made the raptor get all the gas it could use, which made it much better at hill climbing and getting to its top speed, which was still limited by the CDI at around 12-13 mph. I then bought a CDI from rmstator.com off of ebay for right at $100. It took about 5 minutes to install it and what a difference. That little raptor screams now. I radared it at 21 mph. Before it would not even go fast enough to register on the radar gun. Hope this helps.

 

Hey There On Or Near The Throttle There Is A Screw That Adjusts The Speed Adjust Out Will Make The Unit Go Faster

 

Does the Raptor 50 have a Restrictor plate under the air filter like the Raptor 80 has? If so take it out.
