A buddy of mine is getting a Yamaha 660 tommorow and i was wondering how fast it would go and how much h.p. it has. I have a kawasaki 700 and i hope i still have the fastest sport utility ride around even???

My neighbor's 660 grizz has 42hp stamped on the MCO, which is at the crank. I don't know how fast he's had it up to though.
I know the 650 prarie had 42 or 43 hp, so the 700 probably makes 2-3 more.

They are much faster than 55... my KQ can hit 54mph if you give it a long enough stretch of black top in high range 5th gear. My buddy's grizz just walks off and leaves me when I hit max speed... or at any speed under that LOL. Oh well, I didn't by this thing for speed anyway.

I had my new Kodiak 450 up to 55 and she still had a bit left. I'm just breakin it in si I did not want to push it to hard. so I'm sure the 660 would hit 60 easily.

The AC V2s had taller gearing in the differentials than the Kawi's... the early AC V2s had 3.6:1 diffs versus the 4.xx the Kawi's came with... which is what gives the ACs a higher top speed and more belt burning problems in the thick stuff. The latest AC V2s had 4:1 differential ratios, which helped with mudding/pulling but hurt top end speed.
The 650s and up have plenty of power to hit 70mph+, it is the gearing that limits them.
