hello,
I have just purchaced an 01 Raptor and I know the valves have never ben adjusted. This thing will run about neck and neck with a piped, jeted and K&N 400EX down a quarter mile. Is this normal for a raptor or do you think I need to adjust my valves. I also have a servece manual I downloaded so I should be able to figure it out. I put a compression tester on and got 135 PSI then I put oil into the clynder and got 155 PSI witch means i have about 20 PSI lost in commpresion due to scraped piston. I know this is way low compression seeing minium is 145 and reckomended is 187. Do you think the rest is in valves or could it be somthing elce? I really want to get my commpresion up atleast a bit beond the minium.
Thanks,
Rob

At that age undoubtedly it's ready to have the valves adjusted. It's not hard to do, you have that inspection plate that pops off and it's all right there, kinda tight but not that bad. You'll pick up some power for sure. You should kill a Z400 in a drag.......I have both so I have first hand experience.
