Default 2001 banshee????

I know someone selling a 2001 banshee. the banshee is pretty beat needs new carbs new reeds, and wont start.

when i first talked to the kid he said that it needed new carbs and new reeds and it will run perfect. one Exhaust had comp. and the other had barely any. It has a brand new topend bored .04 over. to start it he needs starter fluid. I saw the bike run after he got it started.

After a month i came back to him and asked him if he is still selling he said yes but now it wont start. He claims he left it out in the rain and now it wont start says it wont get spark but still turns over.

it is pretty modded. fmf fatty pipes, renthal handlebars, moose levers, shaved front fenders, boostbottle, reeds, kenda klaw tires all around , dg nerfbars, and uni airfiler.

what i am thinking of doing is selling my warrior and buying the banshee with the money i got and fixing it with the rest of the money i have from selling my quad.

what price would you guys pay for this banshee?

and what do you think i should do to get it running mint again?

also how much do you think i can get for my warrior?

why did he leave it out in the rain? thats stupid.

ok lets see: it isnt running, probably looks like crap, probably abused. dont give him over 800-1000 for it. hey, thats the price he must accept for not taking care of it. a 2001 around here goes for around 3k, in great condition. but down here they dont sell too well b/c everyone wants 450s now and its hard for dealers and shops to sell banshees. one yamaha shop said he didnt want to even order anymore after 2003 b/c he had 5 left over that he had to just sell off at cost and "dump" them...that may be diff now since 2006 is the last year but when i got my 450r it was tough getting rid of mine and it was in near MINT condition. i would have kept it if had the garage space
...i kinda miss that bike...

it prob doesnt NEED carbs, maybe reeds -wouldnt hurt and while you are at it perhaps a diff reed cage. new carbs are optional. get the cylinders fixed and get it jetted right. make sure the bearings and seals all over are still good and that nothing is bent either...

PS: if you need plastic if you do get it, i have brand new OEM BLUE YAMAHA factory plastic (entire set for a banshee) With OEM stickers installed on them already that we could make a deal on... once you go the engine right, the plastic would make it look new! pm me if interested. this sells for over $700 new...

See the red flags.J/K.Need to do a compression test.Just because it was rebuilt doesn't mean it was done right.I have to agree $800-$1000.Carbs are probably structurally ok.Probably just needs some tuning.Crank ok?If you start it,and it's extremely noisy down by the case that can be bad.It sounds like it hasn't been taken care of.To get it back mint might be costly.
If you just want to get it going and have fun it shouldn't be extremely costly.

Do you think this guy actually knows what he's talking about? It might be getting spark.Might have water in the gas.Might need to drain the gas.
Put in fresh gas and new spark plugs.Could be several things.

Yeah, they can be run in water.
