Default Raptor PROBLEM

I got my raptor back thursday. It got the 396 kit instaled. The piston and crank was seperate. I rode it for a while and it ran great. It didnt make any sounds at all. I took it out again yesterday. I rode it for about 30 and stopped for a while. Probably about 20-25 min. When I started it back up there was a knocking sound on the side the shifter is on. The more I rode it the louder it go. At first you couldnt hardly hear it. Now it does it when it idels but not alot. When you put a load on it such as taking off or holding the break and letting the clutch out it gets really loud. You can go down the road and as long as you are holding it in one place such as half throttle it does NOT make the noise. But as soon as you give it more you can hear it again through every gear and as long as you are getting on it. I havent even got to ride it for 1 hr. I know its not the timing chain b/c I had one go bad befor. Its more of a radeling combined with a knocking sound. It sounds like it is where the base and head goes together. Some one tried to tell me it was the clutches but its on the other side and you dont hear it as loud on the side the clutch disks are at, I also heard that it was the rod. It is really starting to pi$$ me off b/c I just spent around 1800 to get it fixed. And the second dayI have it, something screws up AGAIN. Could anyone tell me what it is or even had this problem? w/b as soon as possible. Thanks for any advise.

That sucks, I would take it back to the place that preformed the work in the first place and complain to them.

Dont forget to check the oil, Tranny and motor oil are shared. I'd say change the oil and if there are shaving you have a real problem. What kind of fuel are you using in it?? That could be your problem too.

It doesnt really sound like a spark knock and yes it DOES HAVE OIL in it. It uses a little but it hasnt been but between the full and low mark. I guess ill just have to take it back to the shop. Shroomfan419 I have noticed a little power difference on low and mid range. It gained quite a bit of top end power. Im pretty happy with it. I hope I can get more out of it with a full system and stage 2 cam. That is if it ever gets fixed the way it should be. lol

Make sure you have oil pressure. Crack the screw on the right side of the motor where the cam plug is. Oil should pour out when it is running.

I would say it's a transmission problem, but you've made no remarks about shifting problems, clutch slippage or not wanting to go into gear. I would bet your crank bearing is going.

But at the risk of sounding like an @$$hole, your problem is you dumped a crapload of engine work into a 350 Raptor. You would have been better off selling the bike and investing the additional money into a Z400 or a 400EX. You didn't even try the basic stuff, like a good pipe, jet kit and aftermarket filter to get more power first. Do the essentials before cracking open a perfectly good, new motor.

Good luck with finding and fixing your problem, but I hope there is a lesson to be learned here.

Ok ill try the oil pressure thing to see if it works. There is no problem shifting into gear. I dont know why the bearing would be bad. I got the clutches, spings, timing chain, crank, piston, and both of the bearings.I only had it 2 days before it messed up. Do u all think the crank and rod could have been bad when I bought it?
