I do have a helmet....This quadriding was new to me and I didn't think I would ever be riding agressive on a ute....LOL

PRELIMINARY LOSS REPORT 06134

ATV CRASH CLAIMS 1 LIFE -- ACCIDENT

A 509th Infantry Regiment (Ft. Polk) Soldier died from injuries sustained in an ATV accident on 26 May 2006 at 2130 local in Leesville, Louisiana. The 29-year-old SSG was at a crawfish boil at an off-post residence for members of his platoon. The SSG was operating his newly purchased 2006 Kawasaki Brute Force 650cc ATV when it overturned. There were two other operators on their ATVs. He was taken by ambulance to a local medical center. He sustained a broken back and femur which left him with no feeling from the waist down. Two hours later the SSG went into shock and died from his injuries. The SSG had not been wearing a DOT approved helmet and there is no record of him attending the ATV operators’ course offered on post. His chain of command did not know about the recent ATV purchase. Alcohol was a factor and the SSG’s BAC was .13.
