Default Winch Install

I just got my winch today, I have read through all the directions and all seems rather simple. I just have one question, I'm supposed to splice into a wire that goes to my ignition, I'm wondering the best way to do this. I know to use a electrical tester to make sure the wire is only 'hot' when the key is 'on.' But I dont know where I should splice in, close to the ignition? How should I do it? With wire nuts and electrical tape? Should I apply that dielectic grease on the connections? I guess it was more then one question, any help would be appreciated.

The directions show where to put all the wires except the one that comes from the ignition. Wires will be hooked directly to the battery( + and -). But hooking a wire for the rocker arm control to a wire that is only live when the key is on will prevent the winch from draining the battery, or being powered when the key is 'off' is not shown, just a generic pic of ignition and the wire going towards it, I guess the best way to find out is go for it.

I am pretty sure you can go to Radio Shack or other electronics store and get a splicing connector. You won't have to cut into the ignition wire. It looks like a tiny plasic "T" that you crimp around the wires and it makes the connections. I have seen the one you want, have not used it, but have used similar ones.
