Hmmm. Interesting, the Jet kit site reccomends 2.5 turns out and the FMF site reccomends 1.5 turns out. My stock setting was 3.6 turns out. I tried variations from 1.5 to 3 and 3 seems the best. However I have to buy several spark plugs to make sure that is right.
What makes the slide open? Seems like if the slide opens sooner it would give more bottom end sooner.

Mine is vacuum. In the dynojet instructions it says to drill out the hole next to the neddle hole. Maybe that allows it to raise quicker?
I think I found part of my problem. When I put the new plug in I thought my gapper was in mm and it is actually inches. So when I gapped it, I gapped it to .065 inches (thinking it was .065mm) instead of .025 inches, what it should have been.
I now have a new plugged and gapped to .025 inches, with the 145 main jet, and the screw turned out to 2.5. I will have to take it out and see what that does.

Low end is more of a function with the jets than the slide opening quicker. The DJ instructions have you drill because that's what works with their jetting kit. IMHO, you can get the same results by just swapping jets or working with the needle. However, a lot of folks here seem to think a simple main jet swap is all that's needed on this machine.
Hopefully, yours will be dialed in. I have a feeling once you get the pilot squared away, you'll be all set.
