okay, did it. The bearing numbers are 6006 if you want to buy them from a bearing place. the inner seal is a bit different because it has a flange on it that sorta seals on the CV. it might help slow down how fast crud gets in there.
if you use a pickle fork to spread the balljoints from the A-arms, the upper separates easy. the lower is a real pain. And the lower ball joint boot will DEFINITELY shred apart. I bought a replacement boot at an automotive place, but it's nowhere near as good a seal. Guess we'll see how long it takes to ruin the balljoint now from crud getting in there. altho I PACKED it full of grease.
getting the bearings out of the steering knuckle is a treat. there's a spacer between the bearings that serves no purpose that I can tell. both bearings have a shoulder they seat on, so they won't move inward to each other, so why is this spacer needed? it's not like the 1/2" of unsupported CV shaft will matter. anyways, I still put it back in.
putting balljoints back in was super simple. and torque rating is 22 ft/lbs, because they both have cotter pins on the nut. I guess that sucks them down enuf.
NOW, my wife hears the rear wheel bearings making noise. I think i'm gonna stay out of the water & mud from now on. SHEESH!

Thanks for the #'s and torque spec.s ned and glad to here thing's went well wth ball joints hate to hear about the rear bearings though but i guess quad's like car's as they get some age part's start going out as fast as you can fix one thing another start's on it's way out also. And you really have to keep on-top of maintinece on these quad's in muddin' an swamp riding, my late dad alway's traded his new truck's at least every 2 yrs because of the warrantties; but quad's cost more than the last new truck dad bought before he passed away in 79' ! Even with the warrantties on his truck's part's were free, but they soaked him on labor ! I've alway's bought used car's and truck's and payed less to keep them going with out warrantties than good ole dad did buying new with the warrantty. When i bought my first quad it was used, with i would go buy oil and filter's from local dealer he alway's asked if i was had been riding even in the dead of winter ! The first time i told him i hadn't been in over a month, he said you're at least starting it up an running it through the gear's every day ; when i told him no it's been sitting up all month ! He told me that was the worst thing possible you could do is let them sit up long periods like that, and when part's like cable's,brakes, tires and all part's in general started going bad; it was a snow-ball down hill effect with no end in sight !!!! And he was 100 percent right , i at first thought he wanted to sell me more part's since i wouldn't let him soak me with his labor; but boy was i wrong..... And ned thanks again for those #'s and torque spec.s, keep me posted with you find out about those rear bearing's !.............GOD Bless you and Family...................williebee
