Default YZ250 engine in blaster?

Hey,
How hard would it be to put a YZ250 motor into a blaster? Could it be done?
If it was done what quads would it be comparable(sp?) to?
thnx

It's been done, a friend had one out at my place about a year and a half ago. Pretty quick, ran close to the z440 till they both blew up within two laps of each other.

Well, that would have been a pretty sucky day^^

cowlamb, with enough time, money, and ingenuity, anything is possible. I would think it would be much cheaper to throw one fo those 240 kits in the current motor though. It wouldn't produce quite the power the YZ motor, but could be a much nicer bang for the buck. If you did do it, it should hang with a well built 400 or even the 450's, at least until you have to turn and jump. With that much extra power, budgeting in better shocks, brakes(depending on model year), wider a-arms and axle would be prudent too.

How fast could a 240 blaster be?

To put a yz250 motor in i guess you would need to strengthen the frame as well ,would you? And weld in new engine mounts. What radiator would you use? The YZ`s or would you need to use a different radiator like a streetbike one? Would you be able to use the yz`s pipe? Can the yz`s transmission hold upto the extra weight of a quad? Or would it blow clutches up quickly?
thnx

That would be a lot of motor for that little frame, but it would still be cool to have if you did it right.

I don't remember much about it, it was about a year and a half ago and he sold the yz blaster right after he got it running again.

HERE is a picture of them both wounded.
