Inline Filter?

Eh, I disagree. There's a lot that can get through that little screen that can't pass through the pilot jet in the carb, or cause the float to stick. While running an inline filter I have caught a surprising amount of sediment that would have ended up in my carb, as well as also catching some water (a small amount of water will just sit at the bottom of the filter, instead of passing through). It's also nice to see if you're running out of fuel at a glance. Usually I don't realize i'm running low until it starts stumbling, then I can look at the clear filter and see that it's empty, then flip to reserve and ride back to refuel. For the $1.29 they cost at most shops it's a very worthwhile investment for most bikes. Some of the big bores might not get enough fuel through them, but even with my gas guzzling edelbrock carb on my warrior I don't have any issues with it not flowing enough.

I ran one for a day, had flow problems but since I know my setup is not typical I did not mention it.
I use a clear gas line which provides the same, if not better, viewing.
I suppose it's not really going to hurt on most recreational machines, but it's certainly not necessary. Of the dozen or so people I typically ride with only one has an inline fuel filter on his machine, and it's on a suzuki eiger which was known for problems with dirt in the fuel system.

I agree with recon. I run a secondary filter myself primarly because I run the sand. My bike is a drinker and I do not have any fuel supply problems. I like to think of it as an insurance package against sand in my motor!

if you have flow problems.. it's either because your filter is in the wrong place... or you have to much line

Well I would not take offense. It appears Oregan is a sand guy like me and we both agree that a secondary filter is a good idea.n When you choose the right one and install it properly it wont hurt anything and provide additional protection to the motor.
