I would think that if you get 6 hours to practice a 300' race . Then DaBeechMan should get approx 7920 hours to practice a 75 mile desert race. Q]It take less ability to drag race than MX,CC, GNCC, Desert race, or Hill climb.
As far as skill level they are the same. Its just the length time we have to use ours is less.I admit it takes a skill level of wich you have to use is longer but no less. Thats why some of us drag race we are not built for or choese not to beat our bodies up like that anymore. In every form of racing nhra,cc,baja, dirt track. I have been a part of there are cry babies like someone else said its the one that loose that seem to cry the most. Then there are others that cry about what other sports do. Look in the mirror bro you don't see us whinning about the cry babies in your sport and there are in your sport. I've been there seen that.

That was the kind of thinking I like

But the time is just to get used to the bike, not the course. We only get to see the course one time on a pre ride the day before we race it, and every course is different every time, That drag strip is always the same 300' in a straight line.

honestly you shouldnt assume things about drag racing if you dont know anything about it. moisture content plays a huge role in drag racing. In the morning when the track is fresh cut and watered it hooks very hard. Throughout the day it drys up and breaks loose from itself resulting in chassis changes to keep the bike hooked up. Nobody on this thread is assuming your desert race and until you go to a sand drag event you have no idea the level of skill and knowledge it takes to keep on top of your game. On a hill its even worse because soft sand is up top, at the end of the day there is no fluff left and its all wet hard pack. Temp changes also kill motors. If you dont stay on top of the weather a 4pm-6pm spread can drop the temperature 20 degrees and that WILL lock up a drag motor.

id never dedicate 330 straight days in the desert. id hurt myself before the 10th day (224th hour). funny though wifesquad!

i actually quit track racing because of all the whining, and politics. not sure what desert is but i wont go back to a mx or tt track.

I was only refering to the layout of the course, not the conditions, we have to deal with that too with the added plus of a cloud of dust and zero visibility when you need to pass someone and who knows what you are about to go throught to do it.

And I have never track raced at all, no mx or tt, other than a small half mile of MX track integrated into a desert course once, and that sucked.

every style of racing has it's issues, but the longer the race is. The longer you have to recover from a driver error.
On the longer races you can even recover from a mechanical issue.

drag racing you have one shot to get another shot for as many chances as there are in your class, till the final run.
Any errors and your going home.

EDITED THIS IN: I am a 1/8 mile drag racer.
