Default Drag racing, whats the big deal

Drag racing, whats the big deal
Let me start off by saying.....

Racing is RACING no matter what form of racing it is. Allot of very good point-counter-point descriptions have been made......

Sorry warwgn WHINNING goes on everywhere, PEOPLE like to describe there distresses about anything, IE WHINNING........

I think "DRAG RACING" is the most intense form of concentration I as a racer have to endure (that's while I'm on the track) Then there's ALL the other examples that have been mentioned. (it's NON-STOP paying attention)......
BUT looking at it from your viewpoint YOU too are a racer and you know what it takes to "WIN" and for ALL OF US RACERS that is the ultimate goal........"THE WIN"

Why, didn't have the skill to run it?

Geez, I went away for a day, and it went to 4 pages.

I think I be a lot less apprehensive throwing my leg over that Raptor than anything DaBeechMan has had his hands on.

We all know there's no crying in baseball, so everything else is fair game.

If you haven't seen any whinning or b!tching in the racing you're doing, they're must not be many people racing. Gonna happen in any sport. Whether you want to admit it or not.

Nope, I sucked on that part, it was a short course of only 7 miles so I had to go through it 10 times. I finally figured out the whoop section after about the 4th lap and started getting some big air over the table tops, well about 4 feet anyway

You are very confused about it taking very little skill. The correct amount of traction and wheel spin and if your on a high powered machine it can really be a hand full. Come watch some of these guys launch its unreal. Come to Clash of the Titans or Planet Sand drags and see just how much skill some of these riders have. Its not for everyone and I understand if you prefer another type of racing but it sounds like you would probably be one of those whinners or excuse makers anyway. Stick to the woods

hm, wonder why NASCAR and F1 drivers get paid more??
Now you sound stupid...again. Their pay has NOTHING to do with the skill involed between them, it is exposure what pays.
You're half right, exposure has a lot to do with it. Nascar is big in the US, because we like crashes, and F1 is the soccer of motor racing; no big deal in the US but huge everywhere else.

But an F1 car pulls up to 5+ G's for 40-80 laps, a 1/4 mile is harder on the drag racer but at least it's over fast. The exposure part is correct, especially with nascar since their cars don't cost any more than John Force, Kenny Bernstein, or Konnie Colleta (sp) drag cars do. F1 on the other hand has more into suspension than your average nascar race ready machine.

There is a difference between skill and endurance. It doesn't take skill to run 10 miles as much as it takes conditioning of the body. There is a lot of skill involved in dodging hazards and racing for 75 miles, but the real challenge is being able to maintain performance as you tire, which concerns your endurance to perform at the same skill level. Drag racing takes a lot of skill with much less emphasis on endurance. It takes strength to pilot a drag bike 300' to an 1/8th mile, more forces are applied to the rider but over a shorter period of time. They both take a great deal of skill, the main difference is how they test the body not the ability.
