When Riding on ice what do People think is a safe thickness for the ice????Also is there any difference Between clear ice and white cloudy ice???

There are many sites on the net which detail how thick ice should be. Take a look around some snowmobile club sites, and you are sure to find it.

Saturday, I went riding, and all mud holes were covered with ice...2 inches thick, and all ATVs could go over (even a 600 Grizzly with 2 people onboard). But I don't know what tried to go on, but at the end of the day, everything was broken (that's why I know it was 2" thick)...probably a car or big stuff.
Be careful. I went over because I knew that even if the ice broke, the water under wasn't deep (1-2 feet). If you don't know how deep it is under the ice...don't try!!
