part number 1KT-14994-00 (and underneath that number in very small numbers is K060201A)for carb vent filter.

yes any dealer should be able to get it,im not sure on cost as dealer didnt charge me,but its really small and i cant see it costing much,put a dab of oil around the plastic end,it will slide in better...pointy side sticks out..make sure its on the carb vent hose attached to top of air box..

 

I finally had the time to go riding last weekend, and I did narrow the problem down to the carb vent hose. It wouldn't start up at first, until I unhooked the vent hose from the carb and blew out a bunch of dirt with an air compressor. After that it fired right up. I had never really noticed, but the hose vents right next to the airbox intake, and as dirty as the inside of my airbox has been before, it's easy to see how that hose can get clogged pretty easy. My dad has a 2002 Big Bear, and he had the same problem with dirt plugging up the vent hose. I have a filter to put on it now, so hopefully that fixes it.
