Thinking about getting a Power Commander for my Raptor 700. Are they worth the money?

Well if you ever plan on getting an exhaust or anything im pretty sure you need it (thats how it is on sportbikes). So yes, its worth the money.

I think they are, there are some who say that they are to expensive and to buy the Dobeck style IE: Dobeck TFI,
Trinity Stage IV or Boss Noss TFI but they haven't run the PCIII USB. The biggest difference I can see between the PCII USB and the Dobeck style controllers besides the obvious carb logic pots you adjust with a screw driver on the Dobecks VS the mapping capabilites if the PCIII as well as the manual button adjustment mode is in my opinion with the PCIII you get quicker throttle response and quicker acceleration.

On the dyno if you measure the time it takes to get to peak HP RPM when both the Doebeck and the PCIII are dialed in to your mods you will see the PCIII will get there a tad quicker and when you ride the machine the power and torque is a little smoother which equates to better ridability and a slight performance advantage even on an internally stock machine with Pipe filter and controller.
You won't see much if any difference in peak torque and HP on an internally stock 700R but once modded the PCIII has the tuablity to extract max HP and torque and plenty of headroom for power levels in excess of 80 RWHP something the other controllers are not capable of to my knowledge. This is just my opinion based on my observations, I'm sure there are those who push and run the other controllers that will disagree, as they always do
