Default Replacing Reeds today........

Im replacing the reeds on my cousins 02 blaster today. One of htem was cracked in 1/2 and not connected to the other one. The quad would start every once in awhile and run for a sec then die, throttle or not. I was wondering if this was the reed or if it needs a rebuild too?

Are those reed petals the stainless steel ones? They usually tear things up pretty good when they break off. Sometimes you get lucky though and they come out the exhaust without too much harm.

I switched my 2-stroke 175 Tri-moto to Boyesen power reeds, they are fiberglass and wont tear up the cylinder as much if they break off. Plus i think they seal better, gives you a crisper throttle response.

Yea i switched his over to the boysen reeds and it fired right up. The old reeds were a see through plastic of some type. It only cracked and moved so no parts of it went into the piston.
