Default raptor wont start hot?

rode my 06" raptor 700 pretty hard yesterday, and i cut the engine off to get a drink and it wouldnt crank back over my buddy said it was because it was too hot, so let it sit for 15 minutes and it started, but it took that full 15 -20 mins to start again, what caused this and how do i fix it from happening again? this happened a couple times once when i stalled and it really sucks to have to wait like that

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. Two raptor 700's quit in the same place at the same time. The problem is the cooling fan quit working on ours due to bad connections in the wiring and fan relay. We havn't had a problem since we repaired all the connections.

I have had my '06 Raptor 700 for two days, rode it both days and this problem has happened to me both times. I have shut it off to get a drink and it wont start for about 30 mins., then runs fine afterwards. Did the fans help the Raptor's problem that started this message? Thanks for the info.

I've got an 03 raptor but I could be of some help. I have ripped every nut, bolt, and wire possible to fix my quad. When you do upgrades there is something always wrong. I put another engine in my quad and started to have wire problems. Ok enough about me. I have the mechanics book that breaks down everything to the nut, bolt, and wire. There is a self test in it for the cooling fan. If you don't want to take it to the dealer, I can locate that book in the garage somewhere. I just moved here 2 weeks ago. I should probably do the samething with mine before riding. You can also get on ebay.com and get a cd that has the samething on it for around 8 bucks I believe. Have any questions, I will get you the answers. Scott

I had problems with overheating on my banshee, and I added some cooling additive that claims to lower the temp by 30. it actually did, and I never had problems with overheating again. You might also want to get a in line water temperature gauge from eddie saunders racing, so you can keep an eye on your temp. If it's still under warranty though, deffinitly take it to the dealer though.

If you haven't got it fixed yet the problem is most likely the spade connector for the fan relay. It is located at the tool box and it is a big blob of electrical taped wrapped around it. Push them together and it will fix the fan problem. Many on the raptor forum had this problem and got it fixed. I think there was a service bulletin about it.
