Most single pipes from top companies are pretty close, so I recommend just looking around and picking one you like.
As far as cheap mods, lose the air box lid and get a Pro-design intake and High flow filter, and rejet.
Not sure if can do this on all models but there is a cam mod that you can do. It is simply adjusting your cam so its free if can do yourself. Again not sure if this is all years or just the 06 so somone with a 450 can help there.

For me, the DR D has been an inexpensive but great performing pipe.
