Difficulty of changing clutch on raptor..
#1
Im thinking about buying an 02 raptor 660 that needs a clutch. The price is very good but I dont know how much it would cost to replace the clutch myself or have a dealer do it. Somebody told me that the exhaust had to be removed and the motor mounts loostened and then move the motor over to do this job. Is this right? Im just trying to get some info before I buy this machine. Would it be reasonable to say a dealer would do it for under 300 bucks? Thanks.

Thanks for the link! About how much should I expect to pay for the parts that are usually needed to replace the clutch. I called my dealer and was quoted $490 for the inner and outer basket, springs and plates. Does this sound right?!?!

The clutch is really easy to do yourself and its a good way to learn make sure you mark where the arm for the clutch is when engaged and disengaged on the case...You should also let the fiber disks sit in oil for about a half an hour and soak then follow the steps that are on that site

I wouldnt buy the hub and basket until I took a look at them. They might be fine and wont need replacing. Go with a GYTR clutch kit (plates and springs), theres nothing better for that kind of money. $500 for a new clutch WAAAYYYY too much. Save yourself the money and do it yourself. I would let the clutch soak in oil over night not just a couple of hours.
