Default 2001 Warrior starter problems...

Hi,

I need some troubleshooting advice for my 2001 Warrior ATV. When I push the start button, the solenoid makes a buzzing sound and the ATV wont start up. It will only make a buzzing sound that is coming from the solenoid. I checked the battery and it's at 12.3 volts, I also tried jump-starting it with a small car battery and the same thing still happens. I took the solenoid out and grounded it and it spun. Also, when I push the start button I can hear and feel the relay clicking. I don't know what's problem. Can anybody help me out?

Thanks!

The first thing i'd to is take all the cable connections apart and clean them with sandpaper so they're nice and shiny, if they get corroded in there i'll cause the problem you're having. If that doesn't help, i'd get the battery load tested at an auto parts store. I test lead-acid batteries frequently at work, and trust me, voltage means nothing unless the battery is really fubar. I see batteries that are only at 10% of their rated capacity on the load tester, but will still read out higher than 12 volts with no load.

Yes, volts mean nothing. I work at a carquest auto parts store and i see batteries all the time that are bad but still show 12 volts. What kind of cold cranking amps was it putting out? Should be around 125 or so. Take your battery to a auto parts store and have them check to see how many cold cranking amps your battery is putting out. That means more than the volts. If you find out your battery is good, make sure your battery connections are tight and clean. Usually when it's making that type of sound it's your battery, but it might not be. Just be sure that battery is good before you do anything else. good luck! moses155
