I own a 2000 kodiak and it is a great bike, the 2001 is only different because it now features a speedometer. It has good low end power and mid range. It really shines in the mud and on the trails. My only complaint is the power in reverse, it isn't that great. I have 26 x 10 x 12 mud bugs all the way around, getting the high lifter lift kit and uni filter soon. Great bike

It's a great bike, my only complaint would have to be the stock tires. The bike handles great on the trails due to it being so nimble. As a mudder it will hold it's own as long as you are aware of the tranny vents. I love the dual range and 4X4 on command. As for the power in reverse that is effected by the rev limiter, that cut power while in reverse to help prevent loss of control. All in all it's a great wheeler that does every thing I ask it to.

Hello there fellow Vmaxer. I have a 2000 Kodiak, and I love it. I traded a Warrior for the Kodiak, and don't miss it!
If you find a deal on a 2000 model, don't let the lack of a speedometer put you off, the speedo kit is available for the 2000 for ~$100.00
