We need more into than "a 99" what kinda bike? 2 stroke, 4-stroke? if its a 4 stroke did you make sure the engine and the crank were drained? some require both to be drained. The only thing i can think of is that you overfilled it. That or you never noticed the white smoke before. What kind of oil did you use?

Well, there's not really any way for oil to make white smoke, it burns a light bluish color that could be mistaken for white if you don't look very closely. If it's white, either it's steam from condensation in the exhaust or a bad head gasket (depending on if it's a water cooled quad or not) or maybe you're doing a burnout for the first 30 seconds and you're noticing the tires smoke (that last idea was a joke)

But if it's possibly blue smoke, you probably have worn valve seals. When they start leaking the quad will smoke for about 30 seconds until all the oil sitting in the chamber burns off and the seals heat up and expand. My warrior did that before the rebuild, and my truck has a bad case of worn valve seals too, every time I start it up the fire trucks come lol.

Na, there's nothing in an air cooled engine to cause white smoke. Is it like when you start your car up in the winter and the exhuast is steamy? Does the smoke hang around, or does it disappear quickly like steam does? It can be black smoke from jetting, blue smoke from oil, or just steam from condensation in the exhaust.
