Yesterday, I installed a 12 tooth gear on the front of my Raptor. I was very happy with the
results. I want more low end and not have to lug it down the way 2nd gear was doing unless
you had some speed. I also have a 11 tooth and plan on trying it this week end. As you
probably know, the stock 13/40 set up figures out to a 3.08 ratio. With the 12, it changes it to
a 3.33. First is even stronger at low speeds and I don't have to slip the clutch as much. It
really made a change in 2nd gear. It brought it alive at low speeds but it's not quite what I
want yet. The 11/40 will bring it down to a 3.64 and should see some more big changes. If
this is about what I am looking for, I will go back and install the 12 and go to a 42-46 rear. I
think somewhere in the 3.5 to 3.8 or so is going to be a good combination. Maybe even a little
lower. The ratio spread between 1st and 2nd is huge unlike some of the Banshees. 2nd
through 5 is much closer.

Yes, but not sand dunes as such. Mostly around sand bars and creek beds along the Red River in north Tx.
