Raptor chain alignment
#1
When I changed to the 12 tooth front sprocket and went to adjust the chain, I could not find a definte alignment mark on the right side swing arm housing. The left side has a very visible one.
The right side had a very faint mark that I had to assume was the alingment mark, but the two were not lined up equally. If this is the true mark, it came set wrong from the factory. It was back about 1/4 to3/8 inch from the left side. Still that way after trying to adjust it. I got to thinking about it and took another look at the 13 I took off. It is very worn on the left (outer) side of the gear. Seems to be indicating to me that it has been out of alignment since new. Also, the chain is showing some unusual signs of wear. I would guess I have about 25-30 hours on my Raptor.

Loosen your two main bolts and back your adjustment screws almost all the way out. Put your sprocket on with the chain at the same time. If the sprocket is already on, give the tires a couple of forward kicks at this point and you should be ready to adjust the chain. Now adjust left and right side alignment screws in till the chain is set properly while making sure the alignment marks on both sides of the housing are at the same location. I had to clean the right side mark off good before I could see the marks. Get it aligned correct and you won't wear chain and sprockets prematurely. I usually have to adjust my chain every other ride....does anyone else adjust their chain this often?
