Default problems with yamaha 200 blaster 2004

I have 04 Blaster and i noticed that the throttle started acting up. So i adjusted and it worked fine. Then we started to loose power. We would have the throttle pressed all the way down, it sounded like it was choking, and we could not get any acceleration. The blaster would just shut off, but it would easily start right back up. This past weeken it wouldn't start at all. I changed the spark plug, got rid of the old throttle and bought a new hand twist throttle, disconnected the tors and still nothing. yesterday I finally got it started but it would immediatly shut off. I cranked and cranked and nothing. I took off the oil container and premixed the oil and gas 32:1 thinking maybe the oil pump wasn't working properly because it would smoke real bad. I do not know if I bypassed the oil pump correctly, info on that please. I am all knew to this. Can anyone help me. Oh yeah it was doing this before I made any changes.

I would have to say that your carb is all clogged up or maybe you need a new reed valve how long has it been since its been replaced

Make sure that you can see through all of your jets and clean any other junk out of the carb also

I'm don't think they have ever been changed, the reeds that is. What are the reeds. I will clean out the carbs. How do i bypass the oil pump if i am going to premix the gasoline from now on. I just want to make sure i did it right.

I think its your reeds too. They are very easy to get to. Follow these steps.
1. Take your carburator off. (im assuming you know how)
2. There are 4 allen or socket screws on the peice that the carburator attaches to on the engine side, not the airbox side. Take those screws out.
3. The peice behind that the screws hold in, it should slide out and have 4 plastic flaps on it (with metal guards so they dont open too far, as well as a gasket), they should be connected to eachother and not cracked. Spray them with some carb cleaner and look inside the hole that you pulled the peice out of, see if theres any debris. Give the hole a short of carb cleaner too.

On my banshee there was paint chips from the inside of the reed hole that had come loose and clogged up my reeds. It was experiencing very similar problems your quad is having. I think they need to tape that hole off when they paint the engine. We dont need to worry about that anymore though do we... :-/ R.I.P 2-strokes.

Have any questions feel free to ask.

And about the oil pump....
1. Take your oil pump off and remove the gear behind it and put the oil pump back.
2. The very small black hose that pumps oil to your carb needs to be pulled off and filled and sealed with something like JB weld or something of that sort. Or if you have some cash get the kit.
3.Then you can take off your oil resivior.
4. Dont forget to drain your tank and put mixed gas in it. With good quality synthetic oil you can run 40:1 with no probs.
