Breeze???
#1
Hi to all this is my first post. Wish I would of found yall earlier but any who here is what Ive got. My son has out grown his Suzuki 50 so I look around and find a 1994 Breeze at a good price do a little checking on the internet and find that everybody that has one likes it. I go today and look at it cranks right up and runs good no smoke my son test rides it and I here a faint noise when ever the bike is rolling (dont matter if he is givin gas breaking or costing I here a noise) it is a poping/clicking that is spaced out. The man selling the bike says it has done that ever since it was new (?) Does anybody else know what I am talking about or did the man lie to me and there is something wrong? Well I talked him off his price and bought it get home (about 1 1/2 hrs later) unload it crank it up and it smokes like a freight train (?) for a few minutes and then stops each time I have cranked it today after it has set for more than an hour it will smoke(?) I ride a 1997 Honda TRX 300 and me and my son went riding for about 2hrs and I never saw it smoke once (?) what gives.
Sorry for such a long first post but I am a little frustrated right now, any and all help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
JC

Welcome durabostbay. About your quad. The Breeze is a great quad. It's old and outdated but it is SUPER reliable. They are a very fun quad to ride and have a bunch of power for a little 125. I really like to ride my daughters!!!
Now about your problems.
Your going to have to do a WAY better job of explaining where the noise is coming from before anybody can help you on that issue. Engine? Rearend? Hubs? Tranny?
About the smoking issue. If it smokes when you first start it up, and then goes away, you have valve guide/seal problems. Could be the valve stem(s) and guides are worn or it could be as simple as an old cracked seal letting oil into the combustion chamber. Any one of these problems are relatively easy and cheap to fix.
Don't stress about the smoking issue. As long as it dosen't foul a plug you can run it like that with no problems. (Keep and eye on the oil level though)
About the only thing you need to keep an eye on is brakes. Without engine braking, these quads like to go through brakes.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. Doctor, I set it up on blocks today and spun the rear wheels by hand. I heared a faint tick/tock or a click/clock (no I havent been drinking) sound coming from the area of the output shaft (drive sprocket)? I also noticed today that sometimes I could not here the noise when I was ridin it (?) Any how me my son and his cousin went for a little ride today and when we finaly got about as far as possible from home the Breeze quit! My son thought he was stuck in mud and reved it up real nice a few times. Checked it out and the nut ahat holds the drive sprocket on the output shaft was gone and the sprocket had simply walked off the splines. Loooooked for the nut but it was gone so I secured the chain out of the way and towed him back home. Other than that we had a great day out in the woods!

LOL; well, I guess that's one way to find out what that noise was!!!
Sometimes it's the only way.
Anyway, don't get discouraged about the problems. If I were you I would take some time and go over this quad and look for problems. Better to find them now instead of out on the trail.
Again, they are a fun little quad and will run forever with very little maintance.

Well, let me see. The problem areas for this quad are:
1. Brakes
2. Aaaaaaaa..................aaaaaaaaaa
3. Aaaaaaaaaaaa.......aaaaaaaaaaaaa
4. There are no more.
These things are really rock solid. Nothing that I have ever read says anything but. The only thing I really don't like about it is no foot brake. That was a big mistake. Other than that I can think of no common problem that this quad has.
Have fun and ride safe.

Nothing much to add except I just bought a Breeze for my son after he outgrew his Suzuki 50, he loves it and so do I. Had a little oil leak coming from the output shaft of the tranny and the valves adjusted at the dealer. 125 bucks for both and it runs great and starts first try every time.

tmm2good same step my boy made. My boys 50 was also a 2002 model, did you ever get anymore power out of it? I have just learned of a few tricks after I had decided to get ride of it. I believe I will try the tricks and maybe hold on to it. I got a 14 month old son in boot camp right now!
